Que Sera, Sera Theology
Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)The
greatest enemy to America and to our Constitutional Republic is the
current Que Sera, Sera Theology which comes from taking Romans 13: 1-2
out of it's biblical context.
Did you know that is exactly what
the church and it's leadership did in pre-Nazi Germany. They also took
Romans 13:1-2 out of it's scriptural context and the result was Adolph
Hitler, Nazi Germany and the Holocaust!
Rom 13:1-2 Let every
soul be in subjection to the higher powers (government): for there is
no power (government) but of God; and the powers (governments) that be
are ordained of God.
Therefore he that resisteth the power
(government), withstands the ordinance of God: and they that withstand
shall receive to themselves judgment.
Sounds like God is in control (Que Sera, Sera) so it doesn't matter anyway, right?
Wrong!
That
attitude, that Que Sera Sera Theology opened the door for Hitler and
Nazi Germany! The result was genocide, the holocaust, psychiatric abuse
and the murder of millions of innocent people. If not for the heroic
stand of Winston Churchill the entire continent of Europe would be
under the control of the Nazis. History has much to teach us
about the end results of bad theology, the cowardly approach to
scripture and what I like to call Que Sera, Sera Theology.
To
get the full picture we must look at the full scriptural context for
Romans 13:1 and that means we must continue reading the biblical text:
Rom
13:3 For rulers (governments) are not a terror to the good work, but to
the evil. And would you have no fear of the power? do that which is
good, and thou shalt have praise from the same:
Part of
biblical context is an understanding that any sentence which begins
with the word "for" is there in order to define and explain the
preceding verses. This is a basic rule of biblical context. So verses 1
and 2 are explained by verses 3 and 4.
By taking the first two
verses out of context the Que Sera, Sera Theologians have declared that
God is in control of all governments, both good and evil. Is God evil?
Was God the author of Nazi Germany and the Holocaust? Does God ordain and bless evil rulers such as Saddam or Osama Ben Laden?
Was Adolph Hitler a minister of God?
As responsible Christian's are we not to oppose evil?
If
verses 1 and 2 can be taken out of context in this way, then there is
no reason for Christian's to speak out, become politically active, or
even vote.
However, when put in proper biblical context with
verse 3; the bible clear states that the purpose of "biblical"
government is to oppose evil and promote good works.
Good works
are the liberating works of righteousness which is the foundation upon
which our Constitution and our civil liberties stand. Verse 3 concludes
with the mandate that we do that which is good and thou shalt have
praise of the same.
Our Constitutional Republic was designed
by our Founding Fathers and blessed by Almighty God as a government "of
the people, by the people and for the people."
For Christian's
to abdicate their God given responsibility to be an active voice and
participant in our Government is to disobey the commands of Christ that
we be the "light of the world" and "the salt of the earth."
Disobedience to being both salt (Matt. 5:13) and light (Matt. 5:16)
results in America being good for nothing but to be cast out and
trodden under the foot of men (Matt. 5:13) which literally means we
lose our liberties and become enslaved by tyrants who govern according
to Satan and not the Lord Jesus Christ.
Rom 13:4 for he is a
minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be
afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is a minister of
God, an avenger for wrath to him that does evil.
Romans 13:4 reiterates verse 4 again and clearly establishes God's purpose for government:
For he [government] is a minister to thee for good. What is "good"?
Only God is good and God is righteous. Truth and Justice prevail when God is in control!
1 Corinthians 13: 6 "Love, God's love, does not rejoice at injustice
and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail."
Further, verse 4 denounces evil as the enemy of God's government and gives jurisdiction to government to purge itself of evil!
"But
if thou doeth that which is evil, be afraid; for he (government)
beareth not the sword in vain; for he is a minister of God, a revenger
to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil."If we exercise our authority as believer's, we will resist the devil and he will flee from us. (James 4:7)
